Note: You have until noon(ish) to snag your advance tickets for the photography event of the spring, otherwise known as the sixth-annual DCist Exposed photography show opening tonight at the Long View Gallery. This fantastic display of photos aggregates submissions from around the District that best demonstrate the pride, the culture, the spirit, and the everyday of life in DC. And what makes this show unique is its amateur status. These aren’t professional photos—they’re the best of moments like that time you happened to be at the MLK Memorial at sunrise; or the time you shot a quick iPhone photo on the Metro; or the time at that festival when you perfectly captured a cultural dancer’s expression and movement. These are DC photos by DC citizens, beautifully displayed in a 5,000-square-foot space, and also available as a printed book. If you don’t make the advance ticket cut-off, they’ll still be selling tickets for tonight and tomorrow’s openings (featuring DC Brau and Churchkey beers, music from DJ Sequoia, and wine and snacks) at the door, so just keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates.
