The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities pulled back the curtains on their new public arts project, 5×5, with a swanky launch party at the Capitol Skyline Hotel on Saturday night.
As the name implies, 5×5 is a city-wide initiative that will result in 25 contemporary art installations popping up throughout DC in conjunction with the National Cherry Blossom festival. Art enthusiasts and scenesters from throughout the DMV took over three rooms on the hotel’s first floor as drinks flowed while Anthology of Booty’s DJ Natty Boom spun a mix of ’70s dance tracks and dubstep. We slid on our weekend finest and snapped a few pictures between toasting to expression, modernism, and stiff cocktails.
