(FREE) Win Tickets to Uncle Kracker @ 9:30 Club

As part of our collaboration with the 9:30 Club, we’re pleased to present concert ticket giveaways every Tuesday. Each week, we’ll post a new upcoming show and your chance to win two tickets. This week: pop-rocker Uncle Kracker. After starting his career with the infamous Kid Rock back in the late ’80s, Mr. Kracker headed off on his own to produce four solo albums, with another to launch this year. You’ve heard this guy’s music and you know all the words; why not see him live?

For your chance at these tickets for the March 14 show, tell us an interesting fact about the National Cherry Blossom Festival reaching DC March 20.

Check back next week to see who won and for your chance at another set of tickets!

Japan gave 3,020 cherry blossom trees as a gift to the United States in 1912 to celebrate the nations’ then-growing friendship, replacing an earlier gift of 2000 trees which had to be destroyed due to disease in 1910.

Between 1986-1988 a total of 676 new cherry trees were planted at a cost of over $101,000
in private funds donated to the National Park Service to restore the
number of trees to what they were at the time of the original gift.

The weather determines when the cherry blossom trees will bloom, so it may not be during the festival.

I had my first run-in with seasonal allergies during the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival. Washington DC ranked 25th on the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s 2011 list of  ”Most Challenging Places to Live with Spring Allergies” (up from 43rd in 2010). ACCHOO!!

  • No such thing as Pink

Apparently, the color pink has just been disproved, or at least scientists are pretty sure pink is not a naturally occurring color, so maybe the Cherry Blossom Festival is actually a giant conspiracy… http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/03/07/does-the-color-pink-exist-scientists-arent-sure/#ixzz1oZ9oy7Uh
