seconding this: i need this as a t-shirt. I vote for a social studies dc poll question determining the viability of this venture. bonus: marketing.

      • brian

you just have to print this out and take it to a Tshirt shop. it would cost like $20

On Twitter, they said posters would be available later this afternoon.

Please add Arlington to this!  Not because it is a part of DC, simply to add to the hilarity.

    • Pudge

Oh a map absolutely needs to be done for Arlington, it would revitalize the whole north vs. south ARL rivalry!

        You’re welcome.

        • Michael

Trust me – no one in Arlington wants to live in DC.  We like not having homeless people, hipsters, or drunk college idiots.  However, we do like paying half the taxes for a cleaner Clarendon existence.  ;)

I think that “Marion Barry” should be replaced with “black people” as a counterpoint to “white people” on the opposite side of the map – just for balance.

    • Willary

      Marion Barry IS black people.

    • Akitadog01

Unfortunately, it looks as if the map’s creator doesn’t understand the “East of the River” nuances as well as the rest of the city. I’d argue that the “Marion Barry” area ends more or less at Naylor Road. From Naylor Road north to Massachusetts Ave, the better label would be “Black Bourgeoisie,” to encompass the greater Hillcrest area. THat area is a lot of older, more conservative black folks with money. Not across-the-board Barry supporters.

      • Anonymous

I’d agree for the most part, being white and having grown up in Hillcrest, but there are quite a few people I know who support Barry no matter what. That said, I shake my head every time he opens his mouth.

This shit is racist. WHoever made this reduced most non white areas to crack smoking politicians and musical sub-genres. Thats cool that this is about stereotypes, but the upper class portions of DC are much more detailed. Are there no neighborhoods in SE/NE that are different from others?

    • Mathew Ramsey

To be fair, they did make one whole quadrant “White People”

it’s old bay. A spice that is very popular in Maryland and apparently that part of DC. It is mostly used to season crabs but also can be used on fish, chicken and beef.

Heavy stuff: incendiary topics like this are what won Crash the Oscar that year!  The map divvies up the “Gays” from the “Drunk Catholic Girls,” the “Fanny Packs and Segways” from the “People Who Watch C-Span,” and of course the huge slice of “White People.”  Now people want to know: is this some sort of sick joke or a representation of reality?!http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2011/08/wildly-offensive-map-of-dc-offends-the-internet/

  • Meredith

You know this map is a complete rip-off from the City Paper (http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/neighborhoods/).  I know you guys are trying to funny, but come on.  Don’t count it as your own.  Someone else had the idea — The City Paper.
